END ASUU (ACADEMIC STAFF UNION OF UNIVERSITIES) STRIKE.

The lingering ASUU strike is a very sad, and disgraceful development in Nigeria.

The strike by lecturers, has kept students of government owned universities at home for some months now. This is retrogressive, and undermines the pursuit of academic development, and human resource development, which is the most important part of any genuine national, and economic development of any country.

I remember that during my days in the university, for my bachelor of science degree, (1997-2000/January 2001), we never witnessed a single  strike by ASUU. I wish the same, for all Nigerian students in higher institution, whether owned by government, or private organizations, or individuals.

I hereby implore the federal government, ASUU, and other parties involved in the resolution of the strike, to do all within their powers, to find solutions, which will end the disgraceful academic strike.

The federal government, should be very magnanimous in conceding to the financial demands of ASUU. Because if the federal government can't spend enough money in education, what else are we spending money on? The United Nations, recommends that education, should be given about 20-25%, of the budget. ASUU on its own part, should make a few concessions to make it easier to resolve the strike.

May God bless Nigeria.

Signed,
C.I.O.W.
Chibuzor Igwe Ojeje William.
